The regional coordination meeting for Asia on the implementation of the Port State Measures Agreement (PSMA) to prevent, deter and eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing was inaugurated today. FAO has convened this meeting jointly with Government of the Republic of Korea in Seoul from 11 to 15 July 2022, with the financial support of the Government of Norway.

Australia, Bangladesh, China, Combodia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Maldives, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam were in attendance. BOBP and SEAFDEC shared the regional perspectives.

Dr. P. Krishnan, Director, BOBP participated in the meeting and presented the initiatives of the IGO towards curbing IUU fishing.
