Fisheries Technocrat Forum (FTF) and BOBP-IGO initiated a Track 1.5 Quadrimester Dialogue Series On Science for Policy (QDS4P). The objective of the initiative is to provide a platform for fisheries officials, scientists and concerned citizens to deliberate on topical fisheries issues and supporting evidence-based policy making. The first session of the series was organised today (11th June 2022) at BOBP Conference Hall.
Dr. S . Thirunavukkarasu , President, FTF thanked BOBP for the initiative and hoped the collaboration would help in bridging the science-policy gaps for sustainable fisheries development.
Dr P Krishnan, Director, BOBP-IGO highlighted the vision of the initiative and said that the cumulative wisdom of the forum would goa long way in addressing fisheries issues in the region.
Detailed deliberations were held on two topical issues: ‘Responsible Coastal Aquaculture: Searching the Middle Point for Coastal Aquaculture Development and Environmental Conservation’ and ‘Voice for Hilsa in Tamil Nadu’.
Two working groups comprising voluntary members would further explore the themes.
