BOBP-IGO and the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA), Sri Lanka hosted a crucial workshop on January 16-17, 2024, as part of the second phase of the Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem (BOBLME-2) Project, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD). The workshop focused on implementing the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) in Sri Lanka under the Sustainable Fisheries Management Component of the BOBLME-2 Project. Key outcomes of the meetings include reviewing past and ongoing fisheries management activities in Sri Lanka and drawing lessons from therein and identification of candidate fisheries management units (FMUs) for implementing EAFM. Thirty-six participants across different stakeholder groups, fisheries, environment, NGOs, fisherfolks participated in the meeting.
