The Sixth International Fishing Industry Safety & Health Conference (IFISH 6) began in Rome today. IFISH is a unique global event focused on health and safety in the fishing, aquaculture, and seafood processing sectors. Since its inception in 2000, IFISH has provided a platform for progressing occupational health and safety research and innovations. Bay of Bengal Programme Inter-Governmental Organisation joined the platform during its second meeting and co-organized the third meeting in Mahabalipuram to bring global attention to the safety issues of small-scale fisheries.

 

IFISH 6 is organized by the Northeast Center for Occupational Health and Safety (NEC) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

 

Dr P Krishnan, Director and Mr R Mukherjee representing BOBP-IGO in the Sixth Conference. Dr Krishnan will deliver the keynote address on the Safety aspect of small-scale fisheries later today.
