BOBP-IGO and TNJFU conducted a rapid appraisal from 19 to 22 March 2022, on the problems of the small-scale FRP fishing vessels and engines to develop a simple guideline for their repairs and maintenance. A team comprising Dr. S. Jayaraj and Mr. M. Krishnamohan from BOBP-IGO and Dr. T. Ravikumar from FC&RI (TNJFU), Thoothukudi visited the fishing villages and boatyards in Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli Districts of Tamil Nadu, interacted with fishers, mechanics, and boat builders.

The mission was undertaken under the aegis of the study sponsored by FAO.
