BOBP-IGO held a Scoping Meeting on “Building Synergies & Exploring Areas of Partnerships” with Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI), working under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India. ASCI works towards upgrading skills of farmers, wage workers, self-employed & extension workers engaged in organized / unorganized segments of agriculture & allied sectors including fisheries. Dr Satender Singh Arya, CEO; Dr Ishwar Poojar and Dr Santosh Kumar Panda, Regional Heads of ASCI and Dr Paul Pandian, former Fisheries Development Commissioner to Government of India and Advisor, ASCI attended the meeting, along with the staff members of BOBP-IGO. Dr P Krishnan, Director, BOBP presented a roadmap for areas and modes of collaboration with ASCI. Dr E Vivekanandan, Dr AG Ponniah and Dr R Soundararajan, fisheries experts (retired) from ICAR, shared their perspectives during the deliberations. During the meeting, areas of common interest were identified and a framework for capacity development in India and other member-countries of the BOBP-IGO was discussed. It was agreed to develop regional and country-specific work-plans.
