Kochi: Sixteen prominent artists from Chennai and Kochi and ten Fine Arts students from RLV College, Thrippunithura congregated in the CIFT campus in Kochi (28 October 2022) to add colour to the forthcoming Global Conference on ‘Gender in Aquaculture and Fisheries to be hosted by ICAR-CIFT.
The event featured some prominent artists in the field including S Jayaraj, Raj Balram, Shailesh B.O, Sandeep, Sui Anand and Wilssy Johnson. During the camp, the artists showcased their style of painting and demonstrated techniques for students to achieve professional finesse in their work. Furthermore, the students got an opportunity to learn about the nuances of the art from the artists.
The one day painting event with the theme of women in fisheries was conducted by ICAR-CIFT in association with the Bay of Bengal Programme (BOBP-IGO), Chennai and Arnawaz Vasudev Charities at Cholamandal Artist’s Village, Chennai.
This art event is a pre-cursor to a special session being organised during the 8th Global Conference on Gender in Aquaculture and Fisheries (GAF8) being hosted by ICAR-CIFT and SOFTI during 20-23 November 2022. The GAF8 is bringing together delegates from 20 countries who will present their work on gender in the aquaculture and fisheries sectors.
